School Theme for 2025/26: God is Love
Theme Verse:I John 4:7-8 Beloved let us Love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not Love does not know God because God is Love.
Morning drop-off and pick-up reminder: Just a reminder that children are to be dropped off at the school no earlier than 8:30am in the morning and picked up no later than 3:25pm after school. Staff can not be responsible for your children before or after these times. Thank you for your understanding!
Planning for next year: The school is currently budgeting and planning classes for the 26/27 school year under the assumption that current families and students will be returning, unless we hear otherwise.
Lost and Found: We have many items in our lost and found! Lots of mitts, hats, hoodies etc. Please have a look when you are at the school or remind your children to have a look!
Spiritual Life at TBCS: This past Wednesday's Chapel revolved around the verse 1 John 4:19 : "We love because he first loved us." In Jr. Chapel we sang songs about God's great love, and then finished up with a Memory Verse relay race, where teams of 6 students worked together to collect words and then put the verse in the correct order. In Sr. Chapel Pastor Al Piper came in to speak to us about God's love giving us the ability to love others, even when it is difficult. He had the Sr. students very engaged with reading verse, and with his object lesson story telling.
Skate-a-thon: The TBCS Skate-a-thon fundraiser will be taking place Wednesday, March 11th. The students will take the bus to the Norwest Arena at 2:00, skating for an hour, and MUST be picked up from the arena by 4:00. An email was sent home with more details, arena rules, etc., please make sure to look for that email, and feel free to contact the office if you need more details.
The Booster Club will be serving dinner back at the school gym from 3:30-6:00. Food item lists for each family to contribute have been sent home, as well as pledge forms for each student. Please bring your food item to the kitchen no later than 2pm on Wednesday, March 11th.
The Booster Club is looking for people to help in the kitchen for the following shift times: 2-3:30pm, 3:30-5pm, and 5pm - clean up/close.
The first shift would be setting up and heating the food (2-3:30pm),
Second shift is serving (3:30-5pm),
Last shift is mostly cleanup and a bit of serving (5pm-close, around 6:30pm).
If interested in helping, please contact Emma Baxter at 807-629-7932, or email the school office.
Skiing Elective grades 5-12: The second skiing day is planned for March 9th. The grade 5 students will be able to access their ski pass after this second lesson to use for the remainder of the ski season. This will need to be set up at the hill by a parent.
A bus will be available to bring your children back to the school for those who notified the office that they will be needing a ride. However, if we do not hear from a parent, we will assume a ride has been arranged home from the hill.

Spiritual Life at TBCS: Even with the Snow Days, we have been able to pour so much into our students spiritually. Last Wednesday, singer/song writer/worship leader Jesse Green came to Sr. Chapel to sing for us, as well as to share about how God's love impacted her during some times of insecurity and heartache. The students were very responsive and seemed able to relate to Jesse's songs and testimonies.
This past Wednesday, the second half of our students went to see "David" at Silver City Theatre. A big shout out to the Grade 7's and High School students for being such excellent supports to their younger Bible Study buddies. Once again, the true story of God using a young shepherd to slay a giant, and become the next King of Isreal, really spoke to our students, and hopefully encouraged them to trust the Lord in new ways.
Skate-a-thon: The TBCS Skate-a-thon fundraiser will be taking place Wednesday, March 11th. The students will take the bus to the Norwest Arena at 2:00, skating for an hour, and MUST be picked up from the arena by 4:00.

If your child(ren) will be needing a ride back to the school after skiing, please notify the school office by March 4th so we can plan accordingly. If we do not hear from a parent, we will assume a ride has been arranged home from the hill.
Basketball: On Wednesday, February 25th, our Grade 5 & 6 girls and boys basketball teams participated in the Lakehead Public Schools tournament at Hammerskjold High School. The students really enjoyed this experience and were so thrilled anytime a teammate managed to score a basket. If there are any parents or grandparents out there who would be interested in running an intermural basketball league at recess next January, please let Mrs. Awosika know! The more time and experience our students have on the court, the more confident they feel, and the more fun they have.

Spiritual Life at TBCS: This past Wednesday, half of our TBCS students had the privilege of going to watch a private screening of the "DAVID" movie at Silver City Theatre. Our Grade 8 students really stepped up as leaders and helped guide and support their younger Bible Study Buddies on this endeavor. It was an amazing experience to see a Bible story come alive on the big screen, and the emphasis of the movie was really upon God's love, faithfulness, and ability to cast out our fear. The music was also so powerful and focused on exalting the Lord. We thank the staff at Silver City for giving us this wonderful opportunity. The other half of our students will be going to see "DAVID" on Wednesday, February 25th.

Basketball: We pulled off another successful Grade 7/8 Basketball tournament day! The boys’ side took a team of many volunteers stepping in to make it happen! Thank you to: Mrs. Awosika, Mrs. Schelhaas for driving the bus, Lucas Breukelman, Ben Mol, Lily deGroot and Adam Zachary for stepping in to help with practices, and to Mr. Henny for coaching at the tournament. We are also grateful to the teachers in gym class and all the families who came out to support our athletes! It is all appreciated. The girls lost one and won three games, probably coming in second place, but the tournament ran too long to run the final games. Excellent job girls! The boys finished with two wins, one tie and one loss, and played very well as a team with special mention to Sebastian Whomersley, Max Bolt and Willem Schep. Great job boys!
The grade 5/6 teams will continue lunch practices with Mr. Baxter and Mrs. Awosika for their upcoming tournament February 24th or 25th. We will confirm that date, location and practice schedule for next week ASAP.
